Galaxy Lounge, Crystal Serenity

From the embarkation of our first ship, Crystal Harmony, to our current and growing family of luxuriously elegant vessels boasting such melodious names as Symphony, Bach, Mahler, Debussy and Ravel, the Crystal brand has conjured musical moments for travelers. This theme permeates the halls, decks, lounges and theaters aboard each of our beautiful vessels, with options for enjoying an array of music at virtually any time of day as you explore the world.

Crystal’s own “Piano Man” Mark Farris can be found at the keys aboard most Crystal vessels.

Evenings are traditionally special hours aboard Crystal ships, complete with specialty cocktails and fine wines toasting among friends, elaborately creative feasts and a definitive spirit of celebration in the air. Each venue aboard our award-winning ocean ships, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, river ship Crystal Mozart, and yacht Crystal Esprit has a different soundtrack, whether you’re seeking swinging big band tunes, DJ beats or intimate “Piano Man” vibes.

Here, we break down the best spots for all types of music-loving travelers to find their rhythm in onboard evening entertainment.

The best venue for…

CHEEK-TO-CHEEK: Palm Court on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity not only boasts an expansive dance floor that caters to everything from waltzes to getting lost in your partner’s eyes, it also sets a dreamy scene. The soft lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase starry nights – in addition to the strains of the string instruments on stage – make this forward venue ideal for romantic musical moments.

On Crystal Mozart, Palm Court hosts local entertainers from the destinations visited during her itineraries along the Danube, including sopranos, violinists, jazz trios and other artists; also becomes the central hub for evening entertainment.

Crystal Symphony’s Palm Court dance floor sparkles under the evening lights.

BIG BAND BRASS & BASS: The ships’ Starlite (Crystal Symphony) and Stardust (Crystal Serenity) Lounges are lively “home bases” for dancing, clapping and toe-tapping. The Crystal Ensemble hits the stage each night with tunes from saxes, trombones, tubas, percussion and keys that span the decades.

CENTER STAGE: The Crystal Cove is a venue that is so central to the Crystal onboard experience, it takes center stage on every Crystal vessel. Aboard both ocean ships, Crystal Mozart and Crystal Esprit, the Cove is the heart of the action. Grand pianos stand always at the ready, offering perfect pre-dinner ambiance, as well as post-dining cabaret-esque performances. On formal evenings aboard Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, the Crystal Cove transforms into the elegant heartbeat of the festivities, hosting a string quintet to the harmonious scene.

WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME: If you are looking to make a room full of new friends within minutes of being welcomed inside, we urge you to visit the Avenue Saloon, on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, in the evening hours. It’s likely you’ll be greeted directly from the baby grand, where some of Crystal’s most beloved entertainers grace the keys and banter with guests in between songs – many of which have been requested by your new best friends.

“Rocket Man” featuring the music of Elton John graces the stage of Crystal Serenity’s Galaxy Lounge.

BEING A FAN: The Galaxy Lounge’s stage is somewhat less interactive than the other venues on this list, but it’s arguably “music central” on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Whether you favor Billy Joel, The Beatles, Elton John, or classic dance hits, this is where you’ll find extraordinary performances of songs you’ll have trouble not singing along with.

TAKE THE STAGE: Pulse aboard Crystal Serenity is where guests can leave the audience and embrace their inner performer, with karaoke and a nightclub vibe reminiscent of your favorite big city. Grab the mic, or just move to the beats of the DJ. Either way, Pulse will get your heart pumping.
