As we prepare to bring you updates and insights from the historic Northwest Passage voyage set to sail aboard Crystal Serenity next Tuesday, we’re thrilled to first share with you one last dispatch from the ship’s final stunning sailing through Alaska’s waterways and glaciers. It would be virtually impossible to describe the lush forests, majestic wildlife, rugged terrain, warm smiles and thrilling adventures we’ve encountered in the last frontier, although we’re always willing to try for you, our savvy wanderlust-filled guests.
Here, we’re sharing a glimpse of our favorite views so far from this enriching sailing, and letting you in on what you can expect to see aboard Crystal Serenity Alaska sailings in 2017.
Enjoy the view…
Mendenhall Glacier never fails to strike awe in the hearts of explorers both, novice and experienced. The icy aqua surface is ominously beautiful. (In Juneau)
Your fellow travelers will become fast friends as you share once-in-a-lifetime adventures together, like kayaking across an icy inlet en route toward the area’s largest glacier. (Mendenhall, in Juneau)
An August itinerary virtually ensures you’ll witness the mass migration of spawning salmon, which find their way to bustling fishing ports like Ketchikan each year.
Totems are around every corner in the towns of Alaska, some ancient, some in the process of being carefully crafted by modern day artisans. All symbols of the proud heritage of the native peoples of the land and their fascinating stories.
Continuously changing weather (Alaska is one of the world’s rainiest regions, with Ketchikan alone getting more than 160 inches of rainfall per year!) makes for spectacular sunsets on every single sail away. Catch your breath, then catch a photo.
That rainy weather may inspire you to change your preferences in Crystal’s elegant bars and lounges. Perhaps you’ll opt for a traditional hot totty, with brandy, crushed lemon and cloves and honey. Or, we recommend you try the blueberry tea – newly created by Crystal Cove head bartender Afzal Khan – made with Grand Marnier and amaretto, poured over by freshly brewed hot tea.
Absolutely perfect for an evening spent on the Seahorse Deck taking in Alaska’s best views. Plan your 2017 voyage through the Inside Passage, through Glacier Bay, past Hubbard and Mendenhall Glacier and along some of the Northwest Pacific’s coastline aboard Crystal Serenity.
