The holidays are a special time for spending with loved ones, which is why I decided to spend Christmas at sea with my mom on Crystal Cruises’ Brazilian Holiday Cruise on Crystal Symphony. While I knew it would be an wonderful opportunity to spend 15 days with my mom, I had no idea just how special Crystal Cruises would make it.
From the day we boarded Crystal Symphony, the sounds, sights and smells of Christmastime filled the ship. Decorations lined every last inch of the ship’s interior!
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were extraordinary. My mom and I enjoyed an incredible Italian dinner at Prego, complete with a warm mushroom soup and handmade beet stuffed ravioli.
After filling our bellies, we ended the evening in the Hollywood Theater to none other than the movie Elf. We cuddled up in our pajamas and munched on hot popcorn while we laughed to the movie.
We woke up Christmas morning to a special room service delivery of crispy waffles and hot cocoa with marshmallows. So, we filled our veranda with blankets and pillows to enjoy our breakfast to the sound of the sea crashing below.
After breakfast, we had a special treat waiting in The Bistro of delicious eggnog and Christmas cookies while guests and crew met to sing and play Christmas carols. Before we knew it, the entire ship was preparing for a giant Christmas feast!
For lunch, it was all crew hands on deck to prepare an enormous display of every kind of food imaginable! A huge ice sculpted swan sat at the center of it all, surrounded by fresh lobster and sushi, decadent pastas and colorful salads. Cakes and candies were everywhere, including a giant gingerbread house surrounded with holiday treats.
When we returned back to our penthouse, another special delivery of holiday candies and even a nutcracker were delicately wrapped and waiting on the table.
Unlike a traditional Christmas day back home, we decided to spend our day poolside to soak up the sun! We sipped on cool cocktails, lounged and played a few games of Scrabble until the sun set. We got to enjoy a black tie optional dinner that evening too. I had never celebrated a formal Christmas, so it was really fun to get dressed up, open a bottle of vintage champagne, and truly celebrate the time together with my mom.
Entertainment for the evening included a hilarious and festive show based on TV’s “The X Factor”. Santa, of course, was a celebrity guest judge! Different talent competed for “holiday glory” with singing and dancing performances. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
If you’re considering booking a Holiday cruise with Crystal Cruises, I couldn’t recommend it more – everything from the gourmet food and drinks to the elaborate entertainment and decor. I’ve never experienced a more festive or cheerful Christmas.
