An Exclusive Workshop and Performance for Crystal Guests

“Broadway is the longest street in the world.”

So says multi-Tony Award-winning theater producer Kevin McCollum. Not only do the plays and musicals of the Great White Way reach cities and towns all over the world, but once the performances and performers make their home in the hearts of theater lovers, the proverbial curtain never closes.

During the recent World Cruise Gala for Crystal Serenity’s 2019 Full World Cruise guests, the bright lights of Broadway made their way to Crystal Serenity, where Crystal guests were treated to an exclusive performance of hits and high notes from Broadway star Heidi Blickenstaff (Something Rotten!, The Addams Family, The Little Mermaid). And then, the creative team of Wayne Kirkpatrick, Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell (Something Rotten!) hit the stage.

The trio are working with McCollum and Fox Stage Productions to bring to the stage the Robin Williams hit Mrs. Doubtfire. They pulled back the curtain for Crystal guests, sharing the intensive process of how a show is developed during a special Crystal on Broadway workshop. Beyond inviting the Crystal audience “backstage” for this creative process, the workshop on board produced two original songs for the stage production of Mrs. Doubtfire, which were performed for the very first time for Crystal Serenity guests.

While this was an exclusive performance for World Cruise guests, such marquee events and up-close insights from Broadway greats are standard Playbill fare for Crystal on Broadway themed voyages. Thanks to our partnership with McCollum, multiple voyages each year bring performers, directors, producers, writers and other artists from the theater’s biggest shows to Crystal’s own stages. Among the talented guests set to grace Crystal’s stages in 2019 are:

Broadway performer Rachel York

Rachel York, star of Head Over Heels, Disaster!, Anything Goes and godmother of Crystal Debussy
(Crystal Serenity’s May 29 and December 22 sailings; Crystal Symphony’s October 25 sailing)

Broadway performer Betsy Wolfe
