Overnights Expand the Discoveries on the 2022 World Cruise

“Marvels, Myths & Monuments: A Cultural Mosaic.” The name might be a tongue-twister, but it beautifully encompasses what’s in store for World Cruise guests in 2022. There is a world of wonders out there and it’s remarkable how many of them can be explored in 116 days (depending on which of five embarkation/disembarkation options you choose). On this epic journey alone, there are 55 UNESCO World Heritage Sites to explore in 50 ports in 32 countries to delve into and nine cities where your adventures will stretch from day into night, and into day again.

It’s these overnight ports we’re exploring today, highlighting discoveries that await you.

America's Cup Race

AUCKLAND

By day. Venture to Waiheke Island for forest ziplining adventures or sips of the famous wines; get your heart pumping with an America’s Cup sailing adventure along the Hauraki Gulf or an invigorating 14k (that’s roughly 8.7 miles) run along the “Around the Bays” race route on the waterfront.

By night. Auckland’s never-ending energy continues into the night, when myriad bars, restaurants and hot spots beckon you. Intimate wine bars and lively hubs for live music run the gamut, or, for more active pursuits you can choose to kayak into the sunset.

Sydney Opera House
Sydney’s famous Opera House

SYDNEY

By day. Explore the famed Sydney Harbour from the water with an exclusive tour, or from the heart-pounding viewpoint of the top of the eponymous bridge. Greet the local wildlife behind the scenes at the Taronga Zoo or on an adventure to the wildlife park and Blue Mountain. Get a sense of Sydney’s history exploring The Rocks district, where cobbled alleyways and cozy pubs and eateries harken the 18th century beginnings of the city.

By night. Pubs are the heart of the city at night, many with fascinating histories. Grab a beer or two at one of the watering holes built by former convicts of the 19th century, or relax in a rooftop beer garden. Fine dining options, intimate tables for two and a bevy of dinner shows can also be found, as well as nighttime urban adventures.

Rooftop bars offer open-air breezes and starry sky views, while beach clubs glow beneath thatched roofs along the sand. Colorful stage productions and Cabaret shows are also prevalent here, and night markets pulse with energy.

Singapore at night

SINGAPORE

By Day. Immerse yourself in all facets of this international city as you explore via public bus, bumboat, subway and trishaw. Forest ziplining is another mode of transportation, showcasing the lush natural side of the city. For truly high-flying thrills, board the Singapore Flyer and gaze out at the city below from the world’s tallest Ferris Wheel. Explore the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest of Marina Bay’s Gardens by the Bay, which comprise a remarkable sub-tropical garden and conservatory, waterfalls and the most ravishing views of the skyline from the 72-foot-high suspended OCBC Skyway.

By Night. Get to know the nocturnal animals of Singapore at the Night Safari Park, set amidst nearly 100 acres of jungle; set out on the Singapore River by riverboat; and embrace the cosmopolitan charms of the famous Raffles Hotel and its Singapore Sling cocktails.

It is also the gateway to Luxor and the Valley of Kings, where 63 magnificent royal tombs stretch across the sandy hills, as well as Cairo and the Great Pyramids. You may also venture to Hurghada for the day, where dive shops and schools abound near the Red Sea Coast, and the old town of El Dahar is an eclectic mix of Egyptian coffee shops and souks.

By Night. An overnight adventure allows you to explore the many wonders of Luxor by day and night, while Safaga transforms into a sleepy resort town when the sun goes down, with incredible sunsets and some fantastic restaurants that attract local divers and travelers alike.
