VIP Guests and ‘Team Endeavor’ Members Gathered in Germany to Mark the Occasion
The palpable sense of anticipation and genuine excitement was evident on the faces of the professional shipbuilders at the MV WERFTEN shipyard in Stralsund, Germany, where this week, hundreds of local and international guests gathered in a grand hall of the shipyard to celebrate one of the yard’s very special residents: Crystal Endeavor. Clad in “Team Endeavor” t-shirts and warm, wide smiles, these experts looked on as the next milestone for this groundbreaking expedition yacht was marked and her keel was officially laid. The task ahead of them is grand in scale, as they’ll create the world’s largest, most spacious luxury expedition yacht – 20,000 gross tons of polar class luxury set to embark in August 2020.
Joining these expert craftsmen were members of the Crystal Family, including president and CEO, Tom Wolber and Genting Hong Kong’s Executive Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her role as a member of the German Bundestag, and Mecklenburg Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig. In addition, invited guests and travel enthusiasts from around the world tuned in via a live feed on the Crystal Cruises’ Facebook page, and can now view the ceremony in its entirety on YouTube.
Behind the scenes, our photographer captured some moments of the occasion that was far more than a traditional ceremony. The day marked the next important step in the construction of Crystal Endeavor, which will create an entirely new marriage of bold adventure and incomparable luxury as she sails the waters of the Russian Far East and Japan; Borneo, Indonesia and the Philippines; New Zealand and Tasmania; Australia and the Great Barrier Reef; and the icy landscapes of Antarctica.
This is only the beginning… Crystal Endeavor’s inaugural season is now open for booking. Plan your luxury expedition now.
