VIEWS FROM VANCOUVER: CRYSTAL SERENITY DISPATCH

From the spacious decks of Crystal Serenity, the views are seemingly endless in any direction, punctuated by mist-cloaked mountain tops, winding channels that lead to the Pacific, and the urban jungle of downtown Vancouver. We’re treating you to three days of dispatches from the final luxury Alaska cruise of 2016. In case you missed these majestic (more on that below) voyages this year, we’ll be sharing some of the many reasons you won’t want to miss Crystal Serenity’s Alaska season next year – in living color.

“Majestic” is the word of the hour when it comes to describing an Alaskan voyage aboard Crystal Serenity. Indeed, the name of this 10-day itinerary is “Majestic Alaska,” and only one day in, the experience has lived up to the lofty title. Misty mornings, long days and full nights combine to make a perfectly balanced vacation day. Even the clouds are artfully spread across the sky to ensure the sunlight that is still shining at 10 p.m. sets the perfect mood for a post-dining stroll on the Promenade Deck.

It’s only fitting that this Crystal Insider™ series embark in Vancouver, as all 2017 seven- and 10-day Alaska voyages begin and/or end in this stunning British Columbian hub. In Vancouver, you have your choice of “jungles” to explore. Take to the treetops – quite literally – in one of the most popular of Vancouver’s densely wooded forest areas. For those not content to wander near the roots, a Crystal Adventure to Capilano Canyon will take you to new, if a bit wobbly, heights.

The forest is connected by suspension bridges built to withstand up to 286,000 pounds of shifting weight, and each leading to a unique element of Vancouver’s natural history. At more than 230 feet up, you’re more likely to mingle with nesting owls than ground squirrels, but we encourage you to look down if you dare.

By contrast, Vancouver’s bustling city water front illustrates the beautiful balance the city maintains between its cosmopolitan character and nature-loving heart. Shops, restaurants, theater and sports attractions line every mile (or rather, kilometer) of this extremely walkable city. Should you rather save your energy for evening dancing in the Stardust Lounge, Crystal Adventures will be happy to show you around in style, with options that highlight all the must-see spots.

Crystal Serenity's Promenade Deck is an ideal spot from which to marvel at the beauty of the Vancouver water front.

While sailing aboard a Crystal Alaska voyage, you can expect to experience and encounter some of the most magnificent natural wonders in the world in virtually every mode – hiking trail, biking path, kayak, helicopter, seaplane, and even zipline. We’re thrilled to invite you to enjoy any and all of these adventures, while enjoying the ultimate luxury vacation with us.

Not exactly the last 2016 Alaska cruise! Just the last Inside Passage cruise. We plan on boarding next week to completely sail around Alaska on the Northwest Passage Cruise. Only a week away and we can hardly wait.
