Unlike many destinations in the world, California does not have a signature cuisine. In fact, in the Golden State’s 163,696 square miles, one can find representations of virtually every other culture in the world, with regional influences throughout creating a veritable smorgasbord of flavors. The best example of this is the epic melting pot that is Los Angeles.
In L.A., there are seemingly no rules when it comes to great food, which gives chefs and foodies creative license to cook up some of the greatest food in the country. The city’s proximity to Mexico does produce some inevitably authentically delicious Mexican cuisine. But like all things, L.A. often takes these classic specialties and puts its own spin on them. Enter: tacos. Perhaps one of the most favored dishes in California (and beyond) – so universally beloved that “Taco Tuesday” has become a weekly occasion not to be missed.
In this first video of our 12-part series, you’ll find that there are also no rules for where to find excellent cuisine in the City of Angels. From five-star eateries on the Sunset Strip to the side of a gas station (yes, a gas station), you can satisfy your appetite for almost anything, but really, we’re just here for the tacos.
