Add Some Spice to a Posh Original
For decades, the Cosmopolitan has been sipped by the most stylish partygoers and dance club aficionados in the world’s biggest cities. It first hit the scene in 1934 when it was featured in the book Pioneers of Mixing at Elite Bars, but really hit its trendy stride in the 1970’s through 1990’s. It was then that anyone who was anyone at New York and London nightclubs was definitely drinking a Cosmo.
The original recipe calls for a sweet mix of vodka, cranberry juice triple sec and fresh lime juice, though this fruity formula has lent itself well to a number of variations over the years. One of our favorites aboard Crystal ships is the Ginger Cosmo, which takes the original ingredients and kicks up the spice factor a notch with fresh muddled ginger. This not only results in a more complex flavor profile, but also turns the Cosmo’s signature pink hue into a fiery peach shade, perfectly pairing with sunsets over the sea.
Key Fact: Every cocktail aboard Crystal ships features only fresh ingredients – juices, fruits, garnishes and so on – never any artificial flavors. Crystal works closely with our shoreside partners around the world to source fresh produce from local markets whenever and wherever possible.
