For those seeking a mocktail over a cocktail, Crystal has a delicious option
Complementing the recipe for the sweet and tangy Gin and Jam cocktail that will be featured this week on the LIVE segment of “Sunday Cooking with Chef Jon Ashton,” we’re turning to a non-alcoholic option that will refresh your palate. No-proof “mocktails” are an increasing trend in bars across the globe, becoming as buzzy as gluten-free, low-fat, Paleo and other nutritional preferences. Like all of these, Crystal has choices to suit virtually every taste.
Enter: No Sin Gin. It’s cool and crisp, made in the style of a gin and tonic, with natural flavors of citrus, floral essence and herbs. Crystal’s corporate beverage manager, Ross Martin, calls it a stylish option, recommending the drink to anyone who prefers to forgo the booze, but not the delightful experience of toasting and tipping a glass with family and friends (while imagining themselves in the Mediterranean sunshine).
Here’s Crystal’s recipe for this gin-like mocktail.
Crystal’s No Sin Gin
1 ½ oz. Seedlip non-alcoholic liquor
½ oz. hibiscus syrup
¼ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water
Using a Copa glass, combine the first three liquids over ice. Carefully pour in tonic water. Garnish with the orange slice, lemon twist and sprig of thyme.
